Step Into the Role

The Sales Manager will be accountable for identifying, developing, and converting high value new business opportunities while also managing an existing client portfolio. This role suits a commercially astute individual who thrives in consultative selling, is comfortable navigating complex buying environments, and enjoys owning deals from first conversation, to contract signature and management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities across target sectors

  • Manage the full sales lifecycle from qualification to contract signature

  • Lead commercial discussions including pricing models, service scope and SLAs

  • Build long term customer relationships that convert into repeat and expanded work

  • Maintain accurate pipeline visibility and revenue forecasting

  • Act as a trusted commercial interface between customers and internal delivery teams

  • Keep abreast of testing technologies and maintain a thorough understanding of the market by attending conferences and committees pertinent to their technical specialty where appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activities within Salesforce.

  • Report on activities and provide relevant information to management.

  • At all times work towards personal, Company and Group targets.

  • Deliver sales in accordance with targets, as set by management annually.

  • Assist in the writing and submitting of tenders.

  • To coordinate with the operations team and provide commercial support.

Your profile

Qualifications Required:

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in suitable discipline.

  • Any sales qualifications, while not essential, would be desirable.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Experience in selling products or services.

  • Proven success in B2B new business sales within a services led environment

  • Strong commercial acumen including pricing, margin and contractual awareness

  • Confidence operating in regulated sectors

  • Comfortable operating autonomously while aligned to wider commercial strategy

  • Excellent negotiating skills

  • Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into viable business opportunities.

  • Good technical understanding and knowledge of environmental testing.

  • Ability to clearly articulate and prepare an effective sales pitch.

  • Ability to build a strong portfolio strategy to reach targets year on year.

Desirable Skills:

  • Microsoft Dynamics, while not essential, would be desirable.

  • Laboratory industry experience would be advantageous.

Must be able to travel nationally and must hold a valid UK driving licence.
