You will be responsible for delivering a high volume of qualified sales appointments in line with monthly targets and company expectations. This includes developing new business contacts through proactive outbound calling, structured prospecting activity, and re-engaging lapsed or reduced-spend customers.
The role will involve researching and building targeted prospect lists, carrying out cold-calling campaigns to introduce Normec DETS services, qualifying opportunities, and booking appointments for Sales Managers and Junior Sales Managers.
You will maintain accurate records within Microsoft Dynamics CRM, track appointments and related outcomes including quotes and revenue generated, and work closely with the sales team to support pipeline development and maximise opportunity conversion.
You will also be expected to meet required activity levels, report on performance and pipeline generation, and consistently work towards personal, company, and group targets.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle, from initial engagement through to deal closure, converting appointments generated both independently and by the Outbound Sales Representative into quotation opportunities and new business revenue. You will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, including the ability to confidently defend pricing and margin where required.
You will conduct sales meetings via Teams and telephone to fully understand customer requirements, develop tailored solutions, and confidently overcome objections while negotiating effectively to secure new business.
The role also involves increasing share of wallet within existing customers, particularly those without a dedicated Key Account Manager, ensuring customers are successfully onboarded and actively submitting samples to the laboratory.
Working closely with operations and customer service teams, you will ensure a smooth customer experience while maintaining accurate and up-to-date sales records within Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
You will have a proven track record in B2B new business sales within a service-led environment and will proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities across target sectors, build long-term customer relationships that lead to repeat and expanded work.
As well as consistently work towards personal, Company, and Group targets while tracking pipeline performance, conversion rates, and revenue generation.
Our Offer
This role is based at Consett (County Durham) – office based may consider remote working. Monday - Friday.
The base salary is £26,600 per annum.
There is additional financial incentive for:
Each completed appointment (attended)
First quote requested following the appointment
First invoice paid by the customer originating from the appointment
The expected performance level is a target of approximately 200 appointments (either via telephone/Microsoft TEAMS or face to face) per month. Resulting in an on Target Earning of £35,000

Your profile
About You
GCSE level education or equivalent
Experience in outbound calling, telesales, lead generation, or appointment setting
CRM experience (Microsoft Dynamics desirable) and competent in Microsoft Office
Strong communication, telephone, organisational, and interpersonal skills
Able to engage prospects, manage high outbound activity, and maintain accurate CRM records
Motivated, resilient, professional, and team-focused in a target-driven environment
